Teuva Church and parish centre from 1953 was built after the old wooden church was destroyed in a fire in 1950. The new church was designed by Elsi Borg, a groundbreaking female church architect. Teuva church was the last large design project of Borg, she died in 1958.

The building has references for Borg’s earlier church designs, especially Simpele church from 1933, designed together with architect Elsa Arokallio. The Functionalist style is mixed with details from Nordic Classicism. Typical for the mid-century church architecture, the church has a parish centre wing.

The altarpiece ‘Ten Virgins’ was painted by artist, writer and cartoonist Tove Jansson. The project was at the time revolutionary, both church architect and painter of the altarpiece being women.
