The Bryggman Foundation, founded in 2013, maintains the Bryggman Institute in Turku. The name honours two eminent designers from Turku, architect Erik Bryggman (1891–1955) and his daughter, interior architect Carin Bryggman (1920–1993). Bryggman Institute works in three fields – research, further education and architecture – and will become a national and international research and development centre for architecture, built environment, and construction.
The institute organises an annual seminar in February as well as events, lectures and guided architecture tours in Turku and elsewhere in Finland. In 2016, to mark the 125 jubilee of Bryggman’s birth, the institute published the complete works of the architect in the title Architect Erik Bryggman: Works, written and edited by Mikko Laaksonen, who acts as the representative of the institute. The selection “Erik Bryggman’s architecture” includes 29 of his completed buildings.
