Grand Hotel Tammer was one of the finest commercial buildings in Tampere at the time of its opening, at the end of the 1920s. The building was designed by the Tampere City Architect Bertel Strömmer. He designed many of the most prominent buildings in Tampere during his career.

Grand Hotel Tammer, situated on the northern end of the Koskipuisto Park, is one of the landmarks in the cityscape of Tampere. The large pond with a fountain is located in front of the main entrance, oriented towards the Koskipuisto park. The style of the building is a mix of the Nordic Classicism and functionalism. Grand Hotel Tammer is known for its dark red plaster façades and the large sign “Grand Hotel Tammer” on the roof of the building.

Interiors were designed in the Art Deco style. The furniture was ordered from abroad, imitating international commercial buildings of the time. Some of the details of the interiors in the central spaces of the building have been preserved.
