Kouvola Sports Park Swimming Hall is one of the iconic Modernist sports venues in Finland. It was designed by architect Jorma Järvi, who was also in charge of planning the Helsinki Swimming Stadium. Jorma Järvi died during the development of the Kouvola Swimming Hall and architect Erkki Helomaa finished the project. The swimming hall and its outdoor swimming pool were opened in 1964.
The arched roof of the swimming hall is one of the most identifiable features of the building. The glass wall opens to the park and to the outdoor swimming pool. The main entrance to the building is in the middle of the wall-like street elevation. The principal elevation material is yellow brick. The arched theme is also visible from the southern street perspective as the whole building is arched.
