Saltkaret Observation Tower
- Björkby
- 2008
The building lies in the residential district of Gerby in Vaasa. The district is an old island community, the building inspired by the ’plain and simple’ local wood-building tradition, the woodland motif of the town plan and the organic architectural idiom of Erik Asmussen.
The building holds 21 flats for elderly residents capable of coping independently, plus common facilities for dining, socializing and recreation. The building was constructed on-site and painted with red ochre and linseed oil paint.
