Extract from the Finnish Architecture Biennial Review 2014 jury report:
“The dark, rectangular volume piques our curiosity with unusual details on the exterior: a forest of columns, a sinuous wing-like canopy that shelters a uniquely shaped door, and a belfry topped by a gleaming crown of brass louvers. The church brings light and hope into darkness, offering an intimate space for meditation. The architecture is accented by two striking works of light art: Nina Roos’s altarpiece and Vesa Honkonen’s ‘window of light’. The formal vocabulary has no direct connection to local traditions, but the execution relies on local materials and handicraft skills.”
