Selim Arvid Lindqvist was born on 19 May 1867 in Helsinki. Lindqvist studied architecture at the Polytechnical Institute of Helsinki and received his diploma of architecture in 1888.
Lindqvist was one of the leading Art Nouveau architects in Finland and even a pioneer for using reinforced concrete. Most of Lindqvist’s works are situated in Helsinki. Some of his most well-known works are the Lundqvist Commercial building, Hietalahti Market Hall, Villa Johanna and Villa Ensi.
Selim A. Lindqvist died at the age of 71, on 17 May 1939.
