Jarl Eklund was born on 20 February 1876 in Kirkkonummi, Southern Finland. Eklund studied architecture at the Polytechnical Institute of Helsinki and received his diploma of architecture in 1899. He spent the year 1902 in France and studied sculpture at the Académie Colarossi. He worked at K.G. Nyström’s office and Gesellius Lindgren Saarinen office before establishing his own office in 1905.
Jarl Eklund’s career consists of works from mansions to industrial buildings. In his works, he moved from Art Nouveau, through Nordic Classicism to Functionalism.
Jarl Eklund died at the age of 86 on 30 August 1962.
