1930 designs his first modernist works: an office building in Rauma and a mill in Viipuri, both for SOK
1930 designs a small flat roof type building for a countryside store with architect Paavo Riihimäki, which becomes one of the most common SOK buildings in the 1930s, it’s nicknamed “Huttunen’s box”
1931 architectural competition of Kotka town hall
1931 established his private office, architects Harry W. Schreck, Aulis Blomstedt and Pekka Saarema assist Huttunen with the design of Kotka town hall
1938 the planning of Sokos department store started, Huttunen is assisted by architects Eero Jokilehto, Einari Teräsvirta, Mertsi Alopeus, Kai Larkka and Sirkka Tarumaa
1939 the construction of Sokos started
